Coppertone is searching for a contemporary version of Little Miss Coppertone in a contest on Facebook. Contestants can submit photos of girls ages 2 to 7, and visitors to the Coppertone Facebook page will vote on the winner from among 10 finalists. Several agencies are working on the campaign, including Padilla Speer Beardsley for PR.
The contest is an example of comfort marketing, in which brands revive familiar characters with modern-day twists.
